Among my favorite parts of Barcamp News Innovation is announcing our annual lunchtime keynote discussion. We’ve had a remarkable assortment of leaders through the years — find past speakers at the bottom of this page here.

This year, we’ll have the opportunity to hear from four of the country’s leading voices on journalism trends, informing communities and news making. In the middle of a day of meaningful sessions on trends in news, we’ll break for lunch and gather to hear from them in a roundtable format. We’ll discuss tactics (tools they use and lessons they can share), trends (what they’re expecting to see in the future) and strategy (how they’re expecting to use their tactics to fit in these trends).

Here’s who you’ll get to hear from:

  • Greg Linch, Data Developer at The McClatchy Company, is on the national board of the Online News Association, a former member of the Washington Post and a leader in the product and impact of news.
  • Jess Estepa, a Senior Digital Producer at National Geographic, formerly worked at USA Today and Congressional Roll Call and helps translate NatGeo’s legendary print magazine into a digital product.
  • Emily McManus, ‎the Managing editor of TED, leads the production of one of the web’s most visited web and video properties. She was the #BCNI14 keynote speaker.
  • Michael Gold, a Social Media Editor for the New York Times, has also worked for the Washington Post and Baltimore Sun. He has helped inform the social strategy for these and other major newspaper brands.
